Pumpkin Heads | Rainbow Rowell & Faith Erin Hicks

Deja and Josiah are seasonal best friends.

Every autumn, all through high school, they’ve worked together at the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world. (Not many people know that the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world is in Omaha, Nebraska, but it definitely is.) They say good-bye every Halloween, and they’re reunited every September 1.
But this Halloween is different?Josiah and Deja are finally seniors, and this is their last season at the pumpkin patch. Their last shift together. Their last good-bye.

Josiah’s ready to spend the whole night feeling melancholy about it. Deja isn’t ready to let him. She’s got a plan: What if instead of moping they went out with a bang? They could see all the sights! Taste all the snacks! And Josiah could finally talk to that cute girl he’s been mooning over for three years . . .

What if their last shift was an adventure?

A genre i’ve been wanting to get into more lately is graphic novels, and Pumpkin Heads was such a great introduction to the world of graphic novels.

Pumpkin Heads is the story about Deja and Josiah, who have worked together at a pumpkin patch every year through out high school. The story is based on their last shift at the pumpkin patch, Josiah chasing after and finally talking to the girl he’s like for the past three years, and Deja, helping him along the way.

I loved this! The illustrations were detailed and in colour which i loved, and the story itself just had me feeling all warm inside and laughing out loud.

My favourite most definitely has to be Deja! She is hilarious all through out this story and every time she changed the name of Josiah’s crush had me giggling.

Overall a cute, quick and heartwarming fall read, one that makes me want to go and grab everyone I love and go frolic in a Pumpkin Patch.

About me!

Hi bookish peeps of the universe! I’m Lizz aka lizzreads on instagram and welcome to my blog!

I was on the fence for so long about starting a blog, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make one or if I would be any good at the whole blogging thing, but after recently reaching 1k followers on instagram and some persuasion from my lovely bookish friend Jess on instagram (hiiiiiii Jess! I know you will be reading this because I’m going to send this to you for your input and judgement hehe), I figured I would give it a go.

It’s not the best blog out in the world, but it’s mine and I’m okay with that J

So! What to say about me.  I’m 29 years old * cries * and live in the Western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. I work full time as an Assistant in Nursing in Aged Care and I love it very much, and I am also my mother’s full time carer, but that’s a story for another day.

I’m also a fur mum to my 10 year old dog called Tyson, and to my late Nan’s cat Peanuts (yes, that is his real name) and he’s a feral lol. I couldn’t even tell you how old he is now to be honest!

I’m actually quite shy and consider myself as an introvert, and 99% of the time you can find me at home in my pj’s reading a book.

I honestly can’t remember how old I was when I first starting reading, but I remember it was my beautiful late Nan that got me into it. She was always reading, or doing crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, so naturally I had to do that all too (and I still do, thanks nan!)

Reading was my outlet and a constant for me while growing up. School sucked for me (bullies suck!) and for a long time it was the only thing that would make me feel better.

I love the books that take you away from your own life even though you are just sitting there, and they take you to a whole other time, a whole other place, and for the time you are reading you don’t worry about anything except the story.

My favourite genre is YA Contemporary. I know, I know, you’re probably sitting there like “Lizz, you’re almost 30 years old and you still read YA Contemporary?!” and my answer is HELLLLLL YEEAAAAHHH I do! Lol. I don’t know what it is about it, but I just can’t step away from that genre, and I can read through those books in one sitting.

And thanks to all the lovely people I’ve met in the bookstagram community, I have also been reading a lot of Fantasy as of late (you guessed it, YA Fantasy).

But honestly I’ll read anything if it has peaked my interest.

My blog will be mainly based on all things bookish, mainly book reviews and anything bookish that I’m really excited about, and hopefully to meet more of you that love books and love to read and are just a booknerd at heart like myself!

I’ve gone on enough now that I don’t really have anything else to say, but I hope you enjoyed that spill about me and I’m excited to see where this goes!

Happy reading,

Lizz xx
